DART Orange Line Opening
Irving residents are invited to join in the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Orange Line Super Saturday celebration. The events will kick off with a parade at the Las Colinas Urban Center Station. After the parade, there will be live music, bounce houses, gondola rides and vendors available. Super Saturday promises to be fun for the whole family."

3D Public Speaking for Youth
Learn the ins and outs and public speaking in this nine session workshop offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Valley Ranch Library, 401 Cimarron Trail. The series will culminate with an opportunity for workshop attendees to present to friends and family in a supportive environment. Open to ages 10-16. Space is limited. Call 972-721-4669 to register.

The Duck Pond playground, located at 400 E. Bethel School Rd., will close temporarily July 30 and 31 for repair work to the rubber surfacing. The playground will reopen August 1.

Greif Recovery Workshop
The Visiting Nurse Association is offering a free grief recovery workshop for adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Workshop topics will include myths about grief, common grief reactions, and ways to cope. The workshop will be held at VNA’s Patrick and Beatrice Haggerty Center, located on 1440 W. Mockingbird Lane in Dallas. There is no cost to attend the workshop. Reservations can be made by contacting Sue Rafferty, bereavement coordinator for the Visiting Nurse Association, at 214-689-2922.

Meals on Wheels Volunteers needed
The Visiting Nurse Association needs volunteers to deliver a Meals on Wheels route once a month in Irving. Meals on Wheels volunteer training will take place at the Visiting Nurse Association’s headquarters on 1440 W. Mockingbird Lane in Dallas. The training will be held again at the same time and location. Volunteer training is also available by appointment. For additional information call 214-689-2210.

Telemundo Citizenship Class
This class will be on Thursdays, Aug. 2 through Oct. 15 at the West Irving Library, 4444 W. Rochelle Road. DFW International Community Alliance is offering an 11-part series class that will prepare Green Card holders for the U.S. Citizenship Naturalization Exam. Study materials will be provided. Classes are for adults only and children 10 and under cannot be left in the library unattended. Space is limited; to register call 972-661-2764.
