Keep Irving Beautiful Coordinator Rick Hose and staff member Julie Schmitt recently attended the annual Keep America Beautiful (KAB) National Conference in Washington, D.C. Approximately 500 attendees from affiliates across the country were there to help KAB celebrate its 60th anniversary.

Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) was honored with a 2nd place Affiliate Award in the largest population category of 200,000+. The award acknowledges KIB’s outstanding efforts in community greening programs, including the focus areas of Litter Prevention, Waste Reduction/Recycling and Beautification, during the 12-month period from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.

“It is my privilege to honor Keep Irving Beautiful and celebrate its dedication in engaging volunteers to make its community flourish,” said Matthew McKenna, president and CEO of Keep America Beautiful. “Award-winning affiliates, such as Keep Irving Beautiful, serve as a great inspiration in our national effort to keep America beautiful.”

Board President Scott Wilson had this to say about the award. “I am proud to be associated with an organization like Keep Irving Beautiful that educates and encourages individuals to make simple daily choices and to participate in volunteer activities that improve their local environment. We were competing against award-winning affiliates from the largest cities in the country for this honor, and it acknowledges the year-round efforts of our volunteers, partners and staff.”
