Nimitz’ Academic Decathlon team soars

For the 8th consecutive year and the 23rd time in the past 26 years, Nimitz Academic Decathlon team captured the regional championship. Nimitiz was so dominant it bested second place Flower Mound Marcus by 3,500 points and third place Coppell High School by nearly 7,000 points. Nimitz students won a total of 64 individual medals, led by Timothy Betts with 12, Blaine Stevens with 11, and But Nguyen and Rebecca Van Pamel each captured 10. Michel Castillo and Matthew Jauregui also won 7 medals. 

Timothy Betts was the meet's highest scoring student. Nimitz heads to El Paso to participate in the state meet on February 22nd.
