W.H. Wilson Elementary School named second National Model School
By Sissy Courtney
From sunrise to sunset, Coppell’s W. H. Wilson Elementary School celebrated becoming a Great Expectations Model School on April 29. In the 21 years Great Expectations has been working with educators, only one other school in the nation had reached that designation in one year – until now.
“Great Expectations is a methodology of teaching,” said Kita Asbill, Wilson’s Great Expectations coach. “It is more how you teach, not curriculum based. Our program is built on 6 tenets and 17 observable classroom practices, which are what we use to determine if a school is at Progressive Level or Model Level.”
