Known as men of many talents, Irving Firefighters from Fire Station 7 recently took up the challenge of gardening when they were invited to tend a plot at the community gardening project sponsored by the Bear Creek Community Church at 2700 Finley Rd. The church decided to use plots of land it owned adjacent to the church building for a community gardening project.
“We got a late start on it this year, but we are all interested in making it better next year,” Lieutenant Micah Johnson said. “We placed a firefighter statue in our plot and have made several okra harvests so far this year. The tomatoes did not set well this year, but we make periodic trips to water.”
