DALLAS — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) assumed maintenance and operations of all high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes in North Texas starting the morning of Oct. 1.
TxDOT has assumed operations and maintenance of the HOV lanes from Dallas Area Rapid Transit, who performed those tasks on multiple corridors for years. The transition allows TxDOT to utilize its existing maintenance crews and courtesy patrol staff to provide service to HOV customers.
About 40 miles of HOV lanes are in operation currently, with another 25 miles of HOV lanes closed for construction projects. For an overview of the HOV network, go to www.txdot.gov/inside-txdot/projects/studies/dallas/high-occupancy-vehicle-lanes.html or www.txdot.gov keyword search “North Texas HOV lanes.”
