The Hospital District South Neighborhood Association celebrated their 14th annual Block Party on Oct. 5. Because of the long-awaited cold weather and the threat of rain, the "National Night Out" became "National Night In" as forty residents gathered inside the home of Clyde and Beca DeLoach on Ichabod Court.
Current, former, and future residents of the neighborhood enjoyed getting acquainted and renewing friendships. Door prizes (purchased with some Community Grant funds from the City) created excitement, and several people went home with nice gifts.
Rosemary Raley, Chairman, encouraged residents to bring food to the block party for Irving Cares because of the recent shortage of food in their pantry. Neighbors generously donated non-perishable items, and Rosemary Raley and Beca DeLoach took the food to Irving Cares on Oct. 7.
The welcomed rain came just as the block party was ending, so the neighbors didn't mind getting wet on their way home.
