The ClubCorp Charity Classic raised at least $23,000 for three different charities during a two-day event Sep. 21-22. The ClubCorp Charity Classic, an annual fundraising effort, benefitted the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Augie’s Quest, the Employee Partners Care Foundation and the Dallas Mavericks Foundation.
The event was held at Hackberry Creek Country Club, a member of ClubCorp, an organization for private golf and country clubs, business clubs, sports clubs and alumni clubs.
The event started Friday with a golf tournament, awards dinner and tennis triples mixer. At least 200 golfers participated in the tournament, according to Katie Baker, member relations coordinator for the club.
For the first time, the Classic sponsored a 5K run on Saturday through the Hackberry Creek community.
“It’s a big initiative with all our clubs to give back,” Baker said. “Aside from benefitting great charities, a lot of times, the club is closed off to people so this is a chance for us to throw open the doors and let the community experience the club.”
The event also featured a concert on the lawn, a bounce house and a silent auction.
“By far, we’re on pace to raise three times what we did last year,” Baker said.
