College test scores increasing

The numbers are in and the amount of SAT test takers and their scores are improving. Irving ISD has seen a three year increase in the participation rate in the SAT from 39 percent in 2010 to 72 percent in 2011 and 77 percent in 2012. However, the improvement doesn’t stop there, it gets better. Irving ISD has also seen composite scores increase from 1262 by the class of 2011 to 1277 for the class of 2012.

Coppell ISD seniors performed well on the 2012 SAT and ACT exams according to recently released results. Eighty-six percent of the graduating classes of 2012 (757) took the SAT, and their total mean score of 1696, exceeded state and national mean scores on all three sub tests (Critical Reading, Math, and Writing). For Coppell students taking the SAT test, 68 percent scored a 1550 or higher, far ahead of Texas (27 percent), and the nation (43 percent).
