10 CHS students make All-Region Orchestra

Ten Coppell High School students earned spots in the Region 20 All-Region Orchestra and participated in a clinic and concert Nov.30-Dec. 1 at Molina High School in Dallas.

About 500 band students from 43 high schools in Region 20 auditioned for 23 spots during the Region Orchestra tryouts.

Students making Region Orchestra were Harini Suresh, oboe; Anthony Stanley and Paige Solano, French horn; Nina Jang and Jason Fang, bassoon; Sydney Owens, percussion; Hannah Thorp, B-flat clarinet; Jonathan Bolton, trumpet; Brandy Sun, flute; and Albert Park, violin.

"The orchestra gives our students a chance to perform with an excellent group of musicians outside of Coppell,” said head CHS band director Scott Mason. "These All-Region experiences give the students new insights in music as an art form that they can use the rest of their lives.”

Suresh, Stanley, Solano, Jang, Fang, Owens, Thorp, Bolton, Sun, and Shane Murray, trombone, earned area chairs during this audition, promoting them forward in the All-State Band selection process.

This is the third year for Suresh and the second for Jang to make the All-Region Orchestra.
