Patsy Lou Chism
Patsy Lou Chism, an avid cook, master gardener and mother of eight, died Thursday in her home in Irving. She was 77. Born Oct. 5, 1934, Patsy was the only child of Andrew Patrick Owens and Reba Joan Berry Owens of Dallas. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1954 and earned an associate’s degree from Eastfield College. She worked as an office manager for Albertson’s Foods for 20 years before retiring in 1992. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, John E. Chism, a veteran Dallas Police officer-turned-private investigator who currently chairs the Texas Private Security Board. In addition to her large family, Patsy’s passions included cooking, gardening and caring for her beloved border collie, Skye.
She is survived by her husband, John, of Irving; eight children: Carol Hintermeir and husband, Richard, of Arlington; Sharon Price and husband, James, of Flower Mound; Rhonda Perdue and husband, Jimmy, of Irving; Robert Denton and wife, Dana, of Portland, Maine; John Chism and wife, Janet, of Weatherford; Curtis Chism and wife, Veronica, of Irving; Tammy Terihay of Ft. Worth; and Tommy Chism and wife, Marcie, of Grand Prairie: 18 grandchildren; one great-grandson and best friends, Sandra and Jesus Frias. A memorial service at Restland Coppell Chapel is set for 10 a.m. on Monday, September 10. Private inurnment will follow at Dallas- Ft. Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union Gospel Mission, 3211 Irving Blvd., Dallas, TX. 75247 or the Salvation Army.
Carroll Jean Tally Joyner
Carroll Jean Tally Joyner, our wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend is no longer on this earth with us. She has passed to the Kingdom of Heaven to join our Heavenly Father and family and friends who have passed before her. She was born to Cline V. and Opal Tally. Carroll grew up in Buffalo Gap, Texas and survived Polio at the age of 8. She was in the first Iron Lung in Taylor County at Hendrix Memorial Hospital. She went on to walk, as they said she would not, play sports and become a cheerleader in Wylie School and have a family. She was a friend to everyone she met and a positive spirit to others as she lived her life. She was a member of North Irving Baptist Church and leaves behind many friends there. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Larry Rugh Joyner; one daughter, Debbie Brink (Walter); two sons, Tom Wilson and Ed Wilson (Leticia); two grand-daughters; two grand-sons; three step grand-daughters and two great-grandsons. She also leaves behind a sister, Bobbye Joyce Roberts (Larry), their three sons and families; a sister-in-law, Linda Wolf; her two daughters and their families and many cousins and friends. We know she would like to leave you with the scripture, John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, September 8, at 11 a.m. at the North Irving Baptist Church, 3718 N. Story Rd., Irving, TX 75062-3441, 972-252-5591.
