Ray Rushing

Ray Rushing, born on November 30, 1941, passed away at his home with his wife Dana holding his hand as he requested. Those who loved Ray will smile to know that he called all of the shots right to the end. He was born in Pittsburg, Texas to sharecropper parents, his mother dying during childbirth. He overcame unbelievable poverty to rise to the highest levels of his profession, Vice President of Operations for the Siemans Company, where his duties took him all over the world. Ray was a man of integrity, character, a powerful personality, and he had a zest for life rarely seen. He was passionate about quail hunting, bass fishing, travel, and all things Longhorn. His was a life well lived and leukemia was the only fight he ever lost. Besides Dana, he is also mourned by Gene and Dorothy Pate and Doren and Betty Ellredge, whom he called the brothers of his heart; Lisa and Doug Wiklund and her sons Rick and Matthew; Casey and Brian Gholson, and their daughters Briana and Sarah; Debbie Stiles, Jeremy Stiles; Marlene and Rhett Rushing; and Glen and Gladys Reynolds. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Robert Collins and his BMT Team at UT Southwestern for their care and compassion that exceeds words. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
