William “Tony” Carroll
William “Tony” Carroll, of Irving, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013. He was born July 22, 1948 in Springfield, Missouri to parents Elzie Lavoyd and Jonnie Ardema (Haun) Carroll. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Tony loved to hunt and fish. He was a dedicated family man who loved his family. He is survived by his wife Vernnie Carroll of Irving; sons William Jay Carroll and wife Jennifer of Keller, and Christopher Carroll and wife Misty of Keller; daughters Toni Carroll Baker and husband David, and Carrie Carroll Junkin and husband Lee of Irving; grandchildren Courtney Junkin, Austin Hicks, Eddie Junkin, Kaitlyn Carroll, Kylie Carroll, Dylan Hicks, Bayli Carroll, and Logan Carroll; and great granddaughter Zoey Zarate. Funeral services were held at 10 AM Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jim Gerlach officiating. Committal services with Military Honors followed at DFW National Cemetery.
Mary E. Taylor
Mary E. Taylor, of Irving, passed away on February 11, 2013. She was born June 9, 1924 in Walker County, TX to Ben A. Rhodes and Mary E. Antley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wanza Lee Taylor and daughter Mary Jane Dyer. She is survived by her sons Wanza Ray and wife Darlene of Cleburne, and Benjamin A.Taylor and wife Kitty of Kopperl; daughter Carolyn Barringer of Mesquite; grandchildren Paul L. Taylor, Jasper Taylor and wife Laura, Mark Taylor and wife Karen, T. C. Taylor and wife Mickey, Gretta Taylor, Macie Steed and husband Raleigh, Jessica Brackeen and husband Joseph, Charis Curbo and husband Travis, Alissa McEntire and husband Chris; and 11 great grandchildren. A funeral service was held at 2 PM Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Brown’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bobby Joe Raper officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
Peggy Sue Umsted
Peggy Sue Umsted, of Angleton, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013. She was born April 29, 1943 in Bridgeport, Texas. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Denzil (Groves) Wise, husband Jerry Umsted, sisters Emma Lusk, and Jeannie Walls, and brother Jimmy Wayne Wise. She is survived by her daughters Chandra Jo Umsted and Jerri Sue Umsted, both of Angleton; Oma’s grandkids; sisters Marie Clements and Wanda McPherson and husband Edward, all of Irving, and Glenda McRae and husband Jimmy of Angleton; brothers Robert Wise and wife Zelma of Canton, Roger Wise and wife Awhawanna of Red Oak, Ronnie Wise and Clinton Wise and wife Pennie, all of Irving, and Larry Wise and wife Melinda of Wolfe City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10 AM Thursday, February 14, 2014 at Brown’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Durham officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
