Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport will activate its new parking system and automated Parking Plazas on Aug. 26. In addition to increasing the number of entry and exit lanes, the new toll system includes several automated lanes for TollTag customers only. Other lanes allow credit card or debit card transactions as well. For those customers who need help or who wish to have a cash transaction, there are manned booths available.
“We’ve listened to our customers and we built a new plaza with a new access control system which allows us to have more lanes,” said Dean Ahnad, assistant vice president of the North Texas Tollway Authority. “People will be able to get in and out much quicker than they have in the past.
“There will still be six manned booths in the north and seven in the south, because there are people who will want to pay cash, and we understand that. The toll tag system takes one to two seconds for it to read the tag and the gate to open. A cash transaction could be anywhere between 20 to 45 seconds depending on how quickly the person drives up and puts the ticket in and that kind of stuff. There is a big difference in time.
“All in all, the toll tag technology will allow for a much smoother and speedier transition for all the customers at DFW Airport.”
